Shane Seaman, Attorney

With over a decade of working in the legal field, Shane’s legal knowledge and experience covers a vast array of topics. Starting with the United State’s Coast Guard District 13 legal office, Shane then interned while in law school at a premier law firm-Delay, Curran, Thompson, Pontarolo & Walker, in Spokane, Washington. After moving to the Port Townsend area, Shane became the felony prosecutor for the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office. He then went into private practice in 2006, where he was a partner in the Port Hadlock law firm Knauss & Seaman PLLC. Shane and his wife Kendra started Seaman Law Firm PLLC in January 2012 at our current location in Poulsbo, Washington. In November of 2016, Bert “Dee” Boughton joined the firm as a partner, and Cross Sound Law Group was formed. Shane is currently a Court Commissioner for Bremerton Municipal Court and actively sits as a Judge Pro Tem for the Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Port Orchard and Poulsbo Municipal Courts as well as the Kitsap and Jefferson County District Courts.

Shane graduated from Excelsior College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He graduated cum laude from Gonzaga Law School in 2004. While attending Gonzaga, Shane founded the Service Members Law Club and participated yearly in the Admiralty Moot Court Competition.

Shane is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Kitsap County Bar Association, Jefferson County Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. Shane is currently serving on the Washington State Bar Association Litigation Section as an Executive Committee Member.

Shane has been the Jefferson County Bar President, served on the Board for the Olympic Community Actions Program (OlyCap), served on the Port Ludlow Village Council and the board of Clallam/Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers. Shane is a member of the Poulsbo North Kitsap Rotary Club and is the current Poulsbo North Kitsap Rotary Foundation president.

Shane has handled all phases of litigation in state court including court hearings, jury trials, and appeals and has appeared before the Washington State Supreme Court. Shane also has experience in the Federal District Court.

Shane has primarily focused on practicing real estate litigation, land use, probate litigation, and business law for the past ten years.

Shane is a native of Kitsap County growing up in Port Orchard. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1996, stationed in Seattle on the USCG Cutter Midget, District 13, and at the USCG Air Station in Elizabeth City, NC.

Shane currently lives in Poulsbo with his wife, Kendra, and two daughters. He is an avid boater and fisherman.

Bert “Dee” Boughton, Attorney

A native of Montana, Dee received his B.A. in political science from Montana State University and his Juris Doctor from The University of Puget Sound. He began practice in Kitsap County in 1993 with the criminal defense firm Wecker and Hunko.  In 1996, he transitioned into the civil division of the Kitsap County Prosecutors office where he was a deputy prosecuting attorney for ten years.  Dee has worked in private practice with the Port Orchard law firm GS Jones, and has also served as the assistant city attorney for the City of Port Townsend. He is a member of the Washington and Idaho State Bar Associations, and the Kitsap and Jefferson County Bar Associations.

Dee has many years of experience in civil and criminal litigation.  For more than five years, he represented people charged with crimes ranging from misdemeanor theft to homicide.  He has extensive experience gained in his ten plus years as a deputy prosecuting attorney and assistant city attorney where he has been actively engaged in both criminal and civil litigation.

Dee has assisted clients with a wide range of criminal and civil issues.  He has prosecuted and/or defended most felony and misdemeanor crimes including DUI, Domestic Violence (DV) assault, arson, and murder.  Additionally he has assisted many clients in all aspects of domestic law including divorce (dissolution of marriage), child custody and relocation, and child support.

In addition to litigation, Dee has assisted municipal, business, and individual clients in the areas of employment law, discrimination and sexual harassment, contract drafting and enforcement, business formations and estate planning.

Since joining Cross Sound Law Group in 2016, Dee has focused his practice in the area of real estate litigation and land use.

Dee takes pride in a customer service oriented practice, which is based on great communication, honesty, and value.

Brittany S.A. Cline, Attorney

Brittany is used to working with a diverse clientele on a range of legal matters, offering a high level of care and expertise to her clients. She handles all of the Bankruptcy cases for Cross Sound Law Group, as well as Civil Litigation.

Brittany holds a BS in Health Care Management from Towson University and a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Brittany is active in both local legal organizations as well as the North Kitsap Community. She has served as president of the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce and currently is a member of Kitsap County’s Young Lawyer Division of the Bar Association.

When not helping clients as an attorney, Brittany enjoys living in the Kitsap Community with her family and being a long-time member of the Bainbridge Chorale.

Kate Gamble, of Counsel Attorney

Kate graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She started her legal career in 2008 as a paralegal for the Port Hadlock firm Knauss & Seaman PLLC. Kate was accepted into the Washington State Bar Association’s Rule 6 Law Clerk program, and she continued to work as a paralegal until 2012, when she transitioned to the Jefferson County public defender’s office as a Legal Intern. After graduating from the Law Clerk program, Kate was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 2014.

Kate is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the Jefferson County Bar Association. Kate has been Of Counsel to Cross Sound Law Group since 2017. Her practice is exclusively focused on all aspects of estate planning, including Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Health Care Directives.

Kendra Seaman, Business Manager

Kendra is a native of Kitsap County growing up in Port Orchard, but now calls Poulsbo home. Kendra graduated from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management.

Kendra has ten years of experience working for banks and credit unions. From 2004-2011 Kendra worked as the Student Services Administrator and Special Projects Coordinator for the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Port Hadlock, WA.

As Business Manager for Cross Sound Law Group, Kendra handles all of the financial aspects of the firm, including billing, marketing and client relations.

In her spare time, Kendra enjoys knitting, gardening and hiking. Kendra’s Norwegian family homesteaded near Poulsbo, and Kendra enjoys her heritage by making lefse, flatbread, and other scandinavian specialties. Her other job is mom to two daughters.

Melissa Colletto, Legal Assistant

Melissa is the primary Legal Assistant for Brittany Cline and assists the other attorneys on specific cases. She also is the legal assistant that handles foreclosures.

Melissa was born in New Jersey but grew up in southeast Texas.  She migrated to the Pacific Northwest in 1989 and never left.

Melissa joined Cross Sound Law Group in 2018 with over 14 years’ experience in the legal field, 11 of those years working as a legal assistant with her primary focus being on creditor-debtor collection, non-judicial foreclosures and bankruptcy matters.  Her experience has allowed her to jump right into all of Cross Sound Law Group’s cases with ease.

Melissa lives in Poulsbo, Washington with her husband, Bert, and enjoys cooking, reading and gardening when she is not attending (or watching) college football.
